Binge-Eating Disorder

Binge eating is the ingestion of large quantities of food, (more food than most people would eat in a similar circumstance and time frame (about a 2-hour time span) without compensatory behavior, and feeling a lack of control over eating during the time span. The results of binge eating are significant emotional and/or physical distress.

  • Eating much more rapidly than normal
  • Eating until feeling uncomfortably full
  • Eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry
  • Eating alone because of being embarrassed by how much one is eating
  • Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty after overeating
